A New Adventure...Part 2

I wrote this awhile back & have yet to mention it again (shocking, I know! :)

We did complete all of the classes and have learned a lot about the children we will be working with and ourselves along the way.

We do know that this will be one of the hardest jobs we have ever done (but who doesn't say that as a parent.)

We will give the children in our care all of the love and support that they need (as we do with our own son) and we hope that those around us will do the same for them.

We do have hopes that we can add a child/children to our "permanent" family through the system via adoption if it happens, but we also realize that is NOT the main priority of the system and will do all we can to work in the best interest of these children and their families.

We have NO IDEA in which ways our family will change and how many ways/times it will change as we proceed with this adventure.

I believe that no child ever really belongs to us (How can I really? My son has another whole biological family out there! Plus, biological children do eventually grow up and start their "own" lives too.), but are ours to love and care for while we've got them and we just have to do the best we can while we've got them!

We wish that this system wasn't needed because it means that there are parents out there who are struggling with doing that which I just mentioned above, but we are glad that we can do something to help and we hope that our son will learn from us what it means to give of yourself for others.

We are eager to begin this journey, but as always there are the "waits." Currently, we are waiting on the license to arrive and then we will wait for the call.

I just read these quotes in an email I received from a volunteer thing I will be helping with this weekend and they struck me as being quite fitting of my feelings about this adventure and just why we are doing it!
